For the Chicken Patties:
- 1 lb ground chicken (preferably dark meat for juiciness)
- 1/2 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped (or frozen spinach, thawed and drained)
- 1/4 cup shredded white cheddar cheese (plus more for topping)
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional for added structure)
- 1 egg (to bind the mixture)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
For Assembling:
- 4 burger buns (whole wheat or gluten-free if preferred)
- Lettuce, tomato, or any favorite burger toppings
- Optional: Mustard or aioli for extra flavor
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken Patties: In a bowl, combine ground chicken, spinach, cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and form them into burger patties.
- Cook the Patties: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until fully cooked.
- Assemble the Burgers: Toast the burger buns. Place a patty on each bun and top with additional cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and any desired toppings. Serve with mustard or aioli.
