Ingredients
Scale
Truffle Base
- 36–42 golden Oreo cookies
- 6 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- 20 drops pink food coloring (divided, more or less to adjust color)
Coating and Decoration
- 16 ounces vanilla candy coating
- Favorite Valentine sprinkles
Instructions
- Crush the Oreos: Place 36 golden Oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse until you have fine crumbs. Alternatively, place the cookies in a sealed bag and crush them with a rolling pin until finely crushed.
- Mix the base: Transfer Oreo crumbs to a mixer or keep them in the food processor, then add softened cream cheese and 10 drops of pink food coloring. Mix thoroughly until fully combined and the mixture can hold together when rolled. Adjust consistency by adding more cookie crumbs if too wet.
- Form truffle balls: Using a small ice cream scoop, melon baller, rounded teaspoon, or candy scoop, portion out uniform amounts of the mixture. Roll each scoop between your palms to create smooth, firm balls approximately 1 1/4 inches in diameter.
- Freeze truffles: Place the rolled balls onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze the balls while you prepare the candy coating. You should have about 24 truffles.
- Melt candy coating: Break the vanilla candy coating into pieces and place in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring after each, until fully melted and smooth, about 1-2 minutes total.
- Dip the truffles: Using a fork or candy dipping tool, dip each cold truffle individually into the melted vanilla candy coating. Let excess coating drip off by dragging the bottom of the fork against the lip of the bowl.
- Decorate: Place the coated truffles back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet. While the coating is still soft, sprinkle with your favorite Valentine-themed sprinkles.
- Repeat: Continue dipping and decorating remaining truffles until all are coated.
- Chill to set: Refrigerate the coated truffles for at least 15 minutes to allow the candy coating to firmly set. Serve at room temperature for optimal flavor and texture. Enjoy your Valentine’s Oreo Truffles!
Notes
- Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. They are best enjoyed cold but can be left at room temperature for up to 2 hours.
- Freeze leftover truffles for up to 3 months; thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
- Adjust food coloring intensity by adding more or fewer drops to achieve your desired pink shade.
- To ensure smooth coating, make sure truffles are well chilled before dipping.
- Use parchment paper to prevent sticking during freezing and coating stages.
