Buttery, flaky pastry filled with sweet jam and dusted with powdered sugar make for a delightful dessert that’s perfect for sharing with loved ones. Quick to prepare and bake, these heart-shaped pastries are an irresistible way to celebrate love!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/3 cup raspberry or strawberry jam
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar (optional for extra sweetness)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Optional: Melted chocolate for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    1. Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Puff Pastry:
    1. Roll out the puff pastry sheet slightly on a floured surface.
    2. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out an even number of hearts.
  3. Fill the Pastry:
    1. Place half of the heart shapes onto the prepared baking sheet.
    2. Spoon about ½ teaspoon of jam into the center of each heart, leaving space around the edges.
  4. Seal the Hearts:
    1. Lightly beat the egg with milk to make an egg wash.
    2. Brush the edges of the jam-filled hearts with the egg wash.
    3. Place the remaining pastry hearts on top and press the edges together with a fork to seal.
  5. Bake:
    1. Lightly brush the tops with the egg wash and sprinkle with granulated sugar (optional).
    2. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
  6. Finish & Serve:
    1. Let cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with melted chocolate.
    2. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use Nutella, cream cheese, or fruit preserves for different filling variations.
  • If you don’t have a heart-shaped cutter, simply cut squares and fold them into triangles.
  • Best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
