- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1/3 cup raspberry or strawberry jam
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp milk
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar (optional for extra sweetness)
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
- Optional: Melted chocolate for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Puff Pastry:
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet slightly on a floured surface.
- Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out an even number of hearts.
- Fill the Pastry:
- Place half of the heart shapes onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Spoon about ½ teaspoon of jam into the center of each heart, leaving space around the edges.
- Seal the Hearts:
- Lightly beat the egg with milk to make an egg wash.
- Brush the edges of the jam-filled hearts with the egg wash.
- Place the remaining pastry hearts on top and press the edges together with a fork to seal.
- Bake:
- Lightly brush the tops with the egg wash and sprinkle with granulated sugar (optional).
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
- Finish & Serve:
- Let cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with melted chocolate.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Use Nutella, cream cheese, or fruit preserves for different filling variations.
- If you don’t have a heart-shaped cutter, simply cut squares and fold them into triangles.
