- 1 loaf French bread (or Italian bread)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise and place it on a baking sheet, cut side up.
- In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese generously over the buttered bread.
- Sprinkle red pepper flakes (if using) on top of the cheese for a little heat.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped fresh parsley, and slice. Serve warm.
Notes
For an extra cheesy version, add more mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. If you prefer a softer texture, cover the bread with foil while baking, and remove the foil for the last few minutes to allow the cheese to brown.
