    • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Lasagna Layers:

  • 1 pound lasagna pasta
  • 30 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 pound thinly sliced mozzarella cheese (about 24 slices)
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare Meat Sauce: In a large pot, cook the Italian sausage, beef, onion, and garlic until browned. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, white wine, sugar, basil, fennel seeds, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  2. Cook Lasagna Pasta: Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Prepare Ricotta Mixture: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, parsley, egg, salt, and nutmeg.
  4. Assemble Lasagna: In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, lasagna noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella slices, and Parmesan cheese. Repeat layers.
  5. Bake: Cover with foil and bake at 375°F for 25 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  6. Rest: Let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes before serving.
