Description

Soft, buttery, and slightly sweet, these homemade Texas Roadhouse Rolls are a perfect copycat of the famous restaurant rolls. Paired with a cinnamon honey butter, they’re the ultimate comfort food for any occasion.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • For the Rolls:
    • 1/4 cup warm water (110°F)
    • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
    • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 large egg, room temperature
    • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 tsp salt
  • For the Cinnamon Honey Butter:
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1/4 cup honey
    • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
    • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast:
    1. In a small bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix the Dough:
    1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Stir in the yeast mixture.
    2. Gradually add the flour, 1 cup at a time, until the dough comes together and is soft but not sticky.
  3. Knead and Rise:
    1. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Shape the Rolls:
    1. Punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into 2-inch squares or rectangles. Place the rolls on a greased baking sheet, spaced slightly apart. Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
  5. Bake:
    1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown. Brush with melted butter as soon as they come out of the oven.
  6. Make the Cinnamon Honey Butter:
    1. In a small bowl, mix softened butter, honey, powdered sugar, and cinnamon until smooth. Serve with warm rolls.

Notes

  • To ensure the yeast activates, make sure the water and milk are warm but not too hot.
  • These rolls freeze well; simply reheat before serving.
