Soft, buttery, and slightly sweet, these homemade Texas Roadhouse Rolls are a perfect copycat of the famous restaurant rolls. Paired with a cinnamon honey butter, they’re the ultimate comfort food for any occasion.

- For the Rolls:
- 1/4 cup warm water (110°F)
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp salt
- For the Cinnamon Honey Butter:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast:
- In a small bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- Mix the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Stir in the yeast mixture.
- Gradually add the flour, 1 cup at a time, until the dough comes together and is soft but not sticky.
- Knead and Rise:
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Shape the Rolls:
- Punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into 2-inch squares or rectangles. Place the rolls on a greased baking sheet, spaced slightly apart. Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
- Bake:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown. Brush with melted butter as soon as they come out of the oven.
- Make the Cinnamon Honey Butter:
- In a small bowl, mix softened butter, honey, powdered sugar, and cinnamon until smooth. Serve with warm rolls.
Notes
- To ensure the yeast activates, make sure the water and milk are warm but not too hot.
- These rolls freeze well; simply reheat before serving.
