Description

Spicy Beef Noodles is a bold and satisfying dish featuring tender beef, chewy noodles, and a rich, spicy broth. Infused with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and chili paste, this dish is bursting with umami and heat. Ready in under an hour, it’s perfect for a cozy weeknight meal or when you’re craving a restaurant-quality dish at home.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, sirloin, or chuck, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 10 oz thick wheat noodles (or rice noodles for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 12 tbsp chili paste (adjust for spice preference)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  1.  Sauté the Aromatics

In a large pot, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing until fragrant.

  1. 2. Cook the Beef

Add the thinly sliced beef to the pot and cook until browned. Stir in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, chili paste, sesame oil, rice vinegar, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).

  1. 3. Simmer the Broth

Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for about 20 minutes to develop deep flavors.

  1. 4. Cook the Noodles

Meanwhile, cook the noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  1. 5. Assemble and Serve

Divide the cooked noodles into bowls. Ladle the hot broth and beef over them, then garnish with green onions and fresh cilantro.

Notes

  • For extra depth, simmer the broth longer.
  • To make it less spicy, use less chili paste or substitute with a mild version.
  • Add vegetables like bok choy or mushrooms for more texture.
  • Store broth and noodles separately to prevent sogginess.
