Description

This rich and creamy Shrimp Butter spread is an easy yet elegant appetizer. Made with fresh shrimp, butter, and a hint of citrus, it’s perfect for crackers, toast, or as a seafood garnish!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 pound (225 g) cooked shrimp, finely chopped or blended
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a hint of spice)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill or parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

 Prepare the Shrimp

  • If using raw shrimp, boil in salted water for 2-3 minutes until pink. Drain, cool, and chop finely or blend into a paste.

2. Soften the Butter

  • Let butter sit at room temperature until soft and easy to mix.

3. Mix Everything Together

  • In a bowl, combine shrimp, softened butter, garlic, lemon juice, cayenne, salt, and black pepper.
  • Mix well with a fork or blend in a food processor for a smoother texture.
  • Stir in chopped dill or parsley, if using.

4. Chill & Serve

  • Transfer the mixture to a small ramekin or mold and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • Serve chilled with crackers, toast, or as a seafood garnish.

Notes

Use high-quality butter – It enhances the richness and flavor.
Blend for a pâté-like consistency – Use a food processor for a smoother spread.
Chill overnight – This allows the flavors to meld beautifully.
