Description

These seasoned biscuits and gravy bombs take a beloved Southern classic and turn it into a delicious, portable treat! Flaky biscuit dough wraps around a creamy, peppery sausage gravy filling, baking up golden brown and crisp on the outside while staying gooey on the inside. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a hearty snack, these bite-sized bombs are irresistibly good!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 1/2 pound breakfast sausage
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for extra indulgence)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cook the sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the breakfast sausage until fully cooked.
  3. Make the gravy: Sprinkle flour over the sausage and stir well. Slowly pour in the milk while stirring, cooking until thickened. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Remove from heat.
  4. Prepare the biscuits: Flatten each biscuit slightly. Place a spoonful of sausage gravy in the center, adding shredded cheddar if using.
  5. Seal the bombs: Fold the edges over the filling, pinching tightly to seal. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Brush with butter: This helps create a golden, crisp finish.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Cool slightly and serve: Enjoy warm with extra gravy on the side for dipping!

Notes

  • Avoid overfilling to keep the biscuits sealed properly.
  • Keep the biscuit dough cold for easier handling.
  • Air fryer option: Cook at 350°F for 8-10 minutes, checking for golden brown doneness.
