Description

If you’re looking for a savory treat to bake that’s comforting and full of flavor, this is it! The melted cheese paired with fresh herbs adds so much taste, and it’s surprisingly easy to make. The bread comes together quickly, and your kitchen will smell amazing as it bakes.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven and Prepare the Pan
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or cooking spray, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients
  4. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, thyme, rosemary, and basil.
  5. Add the Cheese
  6. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until it is evenly distributed throughout the dry ingredients.
  7. Mix Wet Ingredients
  8. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, olive oil, and eggs until well combined.
  9. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
  10. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir until everything is just combined. Be careful not to overmix to keep the bread light and fluffy.
  11. Pour the Batter and Bake
  12. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it out evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, and the top is golden brown.
  13. Garnish and Serve
  14. Let the bread cool for a few minutes in the pan, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool slightly. Sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • If you prefer a more robust cheese flavor, feel free to add a mixture of sharp cheddar and Gruyère cheese.
  • You can also add some chopped spinach or sun-dried tomatoes for a flavorful variation.
  • Make sure not to overmix the dough, as this can result in a dense loaf.
