Scale
- 1 lb ground sausage (mild or spicy, depending on preference)
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 package (8 oz) crescent roll dough
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage with onion, garlic powder, and oregano until browned, breaking the sausage into small crumbles. Drain excess grease and set aside to cool slightly.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough on a flat surface and press the seams together to form one large rectangle.
- Spread the sausage mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border on the edges. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the sausage.
- Roll the dough up tightly from one edge to the other, forming a log.
- Slice the roll into 1-inch wide pinwheels and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush the pinwheels with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the pinwheels are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Feel free to add herbs or spices like crushed red pepper for an extra kick.
- You can substitute the crescent roll dough with puff pastry for a flakier texture.
- These pinwheels can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for a couple of hours before baking.
