Description

These Sausage Pinwheels are a savory, bite-sized snack perfect for parties or a quick appetizer. With a flaky dough and seasoned sausage filling, these pinwheels are easy to make and packed with flavor. They’re great for game days, family gatherings, or whenever you need a tasty treat!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground sausage (mild or spicy, depending on preference)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 package (8 oz) crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage with onion, garlic powder, and oregano until browned, breaking the sausage into small crumbles. Drain excess grease and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Unroll the crescent roll dough on a flat surface and press the seams together to form one large rectangle.
  4. Spread the sausage mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border on the edges. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the sausage.
  5. Roll the dough up tightly from one edge to the other, forming a log.
  6. Slice the roll into 1-inch wide pinwheels and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Brush the pinwheels with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the pinwheels are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Feel free to add herbs or spices like crushed red pepper for an extra kick.
  • You can substitute the crescent roll dough with puff pastry for a flakier texture.
  • These pinwheels can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for a couple of hours before baking.
