Units
Scale
- 1 package pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup pepperoni slices (or any preferred topping)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- Olive oil, for brushing
- Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a muffin tin or line it with cupcake liners to keep the pizza roses in shape as they bake.
- Roll Out the Pizza Dough
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle, about 1/8-inch thick. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the dough into strips, approximately 2 inches wide.
- Add the Sauce and Cheese
- Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce along each strip of dough. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce, and then layer your choice of toppings (such as pepperoni, sausage, or vegetables).
- Form the Roses
- Starting from one end of the dough strip, roll it up tightly to form a rose shape. Tuck the end underneath to secure it. Carefully place each pizza rose into the muffin tin, standing upright.
- Add Parmesan and Seasonings
- Sprinkle the tops of the pizza roses with grated Parmesan cheese and dried oregano. Brush the outside of the roses with a little olive oil to help them bake to a golden brown.
- Bake the Pizza Roses
- Place the muffin tin in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pizza roses are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve
- Let the pizza roses cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves for a pop of color and extra flavor.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preference. You can use mushrooms, olives, bell peppers, or even chicken.
- For a more gourmet version, add a drizzle of balsamic glaze over the top after baking.
- You can also make mini versions using a mini muffin tin for bite-sized treats.
