Main Ingredients:
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 1 small green bell pepper, diced
- 8 ounces brown mushrooms, minced
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 cup beef broth
- 8 ounces Provolone Cheese Slices, chopped
- 6 brioche hamburger buns
Instructions
- Brown the beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Sauté vegetables: Add butter, onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms to the skillet. Cook until vegetables are tender.
- Add seasonings: Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Thicken the sauce: In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with a little water to create a slurry. Add it to the skillet along with beef broth. Simmer until thickened.
- Melt the cheese: Stir in Provolone cheese until melted.
- Assemble: Spoon the mixture onto brioche buns and serve hot.
Notes
- You can customize the level of cheesiness by adjusting the amount of Provolone cheese used.
- For a lighter option, serve the sloppy joe mixture over a bed of lettuce instead of on buns.
