Description

This Peppermint Chocolate Christmas Slice is a festive no-bake treat combining the rich creaminess of condensed milk and peppermint chocolate with crunchy sweet biscuits, topped with melted milk chocolate, chopped candy canes, and colorful M&Ms. Perfect for holiday celebrations, this easy slice offers a delightful mix of peppermint and chocolate flavors with a crunchy texture.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Mixture

  • 300 g sweetened condensed milk
  • 100 g butter, chopped
  • 200 g Cadbury Peppermint chocolate
  • 250 g plain sweet biscuits, crushed (such as Arnott’s Marie brand)
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 drops peppermint extract

Topping

  • 250 g milk chocolate, melted
  • 5 candy canes, roughly chopped
  • 1 cup red & green M&Ms

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Base Mixture: In a large heatproof bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, chopped butter, and Cadbury Peppermint chocolate. Gently melt them together over a double boiler or in short bursts in the microwave, stirring frequently until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  2. Add Dry Ingredients: Remove from heat and stir in the crushed plain sweet biscuits, cocoa powder, and peppermint extract. Mix thoroughly until the dry ingredients are evenly coated with the chocolate mixture and a thick, sticky mixture forms.
  3. Press Mixture into Pan: Line a slice tray or baking dish with parchment paper. Press the chocolate biscuit mixture evenly into the prepared tray, flattening the surface with the back of a spoon or spatula to create a smooth, compact base.
  4. Prepare Topping: Pour the melted milk chocolate evenly over the base layer. Sprinkle the roughly chopped candy canes and red & green M&Ms over the top while the chocolate is still soft, gently pressing them in to adhere.
  5. Chill to Set: Place the tray in the refrigerator for at least 2-3 hours or until the slice is firm and chocolate topping has set completely.
  6. Serve: Once set, remove from the fridge, lift the slice out using the parchment paper, and cut into squares or rectangles. Serve chilled and enjoy this festive peppermint chocolate delight.

Notes

  • Ensure the peppermint chocolate and butter are melted gently to avoid burning or seizing the chocolate.
  • Use good quality chocolate for the best flavor and texture.
  • You can substitute the candy canes and M&Ms with other festive toppings like crushed peppermint candies or colored sprinkles.
  • Store leftover slices in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • Room temperature allows the slice to soften slightly before serving, enhancing the texture.
