- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 8 slices rye bread
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- Butter, for grilling

- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Prepare the Secret Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, pickle relish, and Worcestershire sauce. Set aside.
- Cook the Patty and Onions: Season the ground beef with salt and pepper, then shape into patties. Cook the patties in a skillet over medium heat until cooked through. In the same skillet, caramelize the sliced onions.
- Assemble the Patty Melts: Butter one side of each rye bread slice. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on four bread slices, followed by a cooked patty, caramelized onions, a slice of cheddar cheese, and another bread slice, butter side up.
- Grill the Patty Melts: Grill the assembled sandwiches in a skillet until the bread is toasted, and the cheese is melted. Serve hot with the secret sauce on the side.
