Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Casserole:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or Italian sausage)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 package (25 oz) frozen or fresh cheese ravioli
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

For the Ricotta Mixture:

  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tsp dried parsley)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Prepare the ricotta mixture: In a bowl, mix together ricotta cheese, sour cream, cream cheese, egg, parsley, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. Assemble the casserole: Spread half of the marinara sauce in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Arrange a layer of ravioli over the sauce, followed by the beef mixture, ricotta mixture, and half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Repeat the layers.
  5. Bake: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until bubbly and golden.
  6. Serve: Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
