Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Fries:

  • 1 pound frozen or fresh French fries
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (if baking)
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • Salt, to taste

For the Cheese Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning

Toppings:

  • 2 tablespoons ranch dressing
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning (for garnish)
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for extra topping)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fries:

    1. If using frozen fries, bake or fry according to package instructions until crispy.
    2. If making homemade fries, cut potatoes into thin strips, toss with oil, Cajun seasoning, and salt, then bake at 425°F (220°C) for 20–25 minutes or fry until golden.
  2. Make the Cheese Sauce:

    1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
    2. Gradually add heavy cream, stirring until smooth.
    3. Add shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, and Cajun seasoning. Stir until cheese is melted and sauce is creamy.
  3. Assemble the Fries:

    1. Place hot fries on a serving platter.
    2. Pour the cheese sauce over the fries.
    3. Drizzle with ranch dressing.
    4. Sprinkle with extra shredded cheddar and Cajun seasoning.
    5. Garnish with chopped green onions, if using.
  4. Serve & Enjoy:

    1. Serve immediately while hot and gooey!

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, double fry the potatoes or air-fry them.
  • Spice level: Adjust Cajun seasoning to taste. Add hot sauce for extra heat.
  • Cheese options: Swap cheddar for pepper jack or a Mexican cheese blend for a twist.
  • Storage: Best enjoyed fresh, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days and reheat in the oven.
