Cookies:
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1 lime (juice and zest)
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1–2 drops green food coloring*
Glaze:
- 1 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 lime (juice)
- 1/4–1/3 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat: Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream: In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add: Mix in baking soda, cream of tartar, salt, egg, vanilla, lime juice, and lime zest.
- Combine: Gradually add flour to form a dough. Add green food coloring if desired.
- Shape: Roll dough into balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake: Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are set but centers are still soft.
- Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, lime juice, and powdered sugar. Drizzle over cooled cookies.
Notes
- For a stronger lime flavor, add more lime zest to the cookie dough.
- Adjust the amount of powdered sugar in the glaze to reach your desired consistency.
