Refreshing and aromatic, this lavender lemonade is a delightful twist on a classic summer drink. The combination of floral lavender and tangy lemon creates a unique and flavorful beverage.
Ingredients
– 6 cups water (1,362 grams), divided
– 1/2 cup granulated sugar (100 grams)
– 1/4 cup honey (88 grams)
– 3 tablespoons dried culinary lavender (8 grams), plus more for garnish
– 2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (454 grams, from 10-12 lemons)
– Blue or purple food coloring (optional, to enhance color)
– Lemon slices (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
1. In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of water, sugar, honey, and dried lavender. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar and honey are dissolved. Remove from heat and let steep for 20-30 minutes.
2. Strain the lavender mixture into a large pitcher. Discard the lavender.
3. Stir in the remaining water, lemon juice, and food coloring (if using). Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
4. Serve over ice, garnished with fresh lavender and lemon slices.
Notes
– For a sweeter lemonade, adjust the amount of sugar and honey to taste.
– You can also add a splash of vodka or gin for a boozy version of this lavender lemonade.
