Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional for spice)
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- 2 large eggs (fried, for topping)
- 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the beef, and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- While the beef is simmering, cook the rice according to package instructions. In a separate pan, fry the eggs over medium heat until the yolk is cooked to your desired level.
- To assemble, divide the cooked rice into bowls. Spoon the Korean ground beef mixture over the rice and top each bowl with a fried egg. Garnish with chopped green onions.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a drizzle of sriracha or gochujang (Korean chili paste) on top.
- You can substitute the ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- This dish is great with some sautéed vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for added nutrition.
