  • 2 tbsp Kashmiri/Himalayan green tea or other green tea
  • 1/2 tsp Baking soda
  • 12 Star anise
  • 2 Cardamom pods crushed
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 2 cups Whole milk
  • Sugar or honey to taste
  • Crushed nuts (e.g. almonds) for garnish optional

Instructions

  1. Boil water: In a pot, bring water to a boil.
  2. Add tea and spices: Add green tea, star anise, cardamom, cinnamon, salt, and baking soda to the boiling water.
  3. Simmer: Let the tea and spices simmer for a few minutes.
  4. Add milk: Pour in the whole milk and continue to simmer.
  5. Sweeten: Add sugar or honey to taste.
  6. Strain and serve: Strain the chai into cups, garnish with crushed nuts if desired, and enjoy!
