Description

A classic hot toddy is the perfect warm drink to soothe your soul on a chilly evening or to help ease a sore throat. This cozy cocktail combines the comforting flavors of honey, lemon, and whiskey with hot water to create a simple yet flavorful drink. The hot toddy is a timeless remedy that works wonders when you’re feeling under the weather, or just in need of some comfort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 oz whiskey (bourbon or Scotch are great options)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 cup hot water
  • Garnish: lemon slice and cinnamon stick

Instructions

  1. Heat Water:
Boil water and set it aside for a moment to slightly cool.
  2. Mix Ingredients:
In a heatproof glass or mug, add the whiskey, honey, and fresh lemon juice. Stir well to dissolve the honey.
  3. Add Hot Water:
Pour the hot water over the mixture and stir again to combine. You can adjust the amount of water to suit your taste.
  4. Garnish and Serve:
Garnish with a lemon slice and, if you’d like, a cinnamon stick for an extra cozy touch. Sip and enjoy!

Notes

  • Spiced Toddy: Add a pinch of cinnamon or cloves to your toddy for a spiced version. You can even steep a cinnamon stick in the drink for a few minutes.
  • Herbal Toddy: Replace the hot water with brewed herbal tea such as chamomile, ginger, or mint for added flavor and benefits.
  • Rum or Brandy: Switch out the whiskey for rum or brandy for a different take on the classic hot toddy.
