Description

Sweet, savory, and packed with flavor, this Honey Garlic Chicken is a quick and easy dish that’s perfect for weeknight dinners. Tender chicken is coated in a sticky, garlicky honey sauce that pairs wonderfully with rice, noodles, or steamed veggies.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional, for heat)
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss chicken pieces with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until golden brown and fully cooked, about 5-6 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  4. Whisk together honey, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, and chili flakes in a small bowl. Pour the mixture into the skillet and bring to a simmer.
  5. Return the chicken to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve warm over rice or noodles.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in soy sauce and garlic for 20 minutes before cooking.
  • You can substitute chicken thighs with shrimp or tofu for variation.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey according to your taste.
