Description

Garlic Bread Sloppy Joes combine the best of two comfort food favorites—savory, saucy Sloppy Joe filling served on crispy, buttery garlic bread. This quick and easy meal is packed with flavor and perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Ground Beef or Turkey: 1 1/2 lbs
  • Onion (diced): 1 small
  • Garlic (minced): 3 cloves
  • Tomato Sauce: 1 (15 oz) can
  • Ketchup: 1/2 cup
  • Worcestershire Sauce: 1 tablespoon
  • Brown Sugar: 1 tablespoon
  • Italian Seasoning: 1 teaspoon
  • Salt & Black Pepper: To taste
  • Red Pepper Flakes (optional): 1/4 teaspoon

For the Garlic Bread:

  • French Bread or Hoagie Rolls: 1 large loaf (sliced lengthwise)
  • Butter (melted): 4 tablespoons
  • Garlic Powder: 1 teaspoon (or 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced)
  • Mozzarella or Cheddar Cheese (shredded): 1 1/2 cups

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meat Sauce:

    • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
    • Add diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  2. Simmer the Sauce:

    • Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
    • Simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
  3. Make the Garlic Bread:

    • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
    • Mix melted butter with garlic powder (or fresh minced garlic). Spread over the cut sides of the bread.
    • Place the bread on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 5 minutes until lightly golden.
  4. Assemble and Bake:

    • Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture evenly over the toasted garlic bread.
    • Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
    • Return to the oven for another 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Serve and Enjoy:

    • Slice into portions and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, use fresh minced garlic in the butter.
  • To prevent sogginess, always toast the bread before adding the Sloppy Joe mixture.
  • Spicy Variation: Add red pepper flakes or a few dashes of hot sauce for heat.
