Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)

For the Cream Cheese Swirl:

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling: In a small bowl, mix together 4 oz cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Set aside.
  3. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Make the Batter: In another bowl, beat together softened butter and 8 oz cream cheese until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, followed by vanilla extract. Mix in the dry ingredients alternately with the milk until just combined.
  5. Add Blueberries: Gently fold in the fresh blueberries.
  6. Assemble the Bread: Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Add a layer of cream cheese filling in the center, then top with the remaining batter. Use a knife or toothpick to swirl the cream cheese filling into the batter.
  7. Bake: Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool and Serve: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • If you’re using frozen blueberries, don’t thaw them before adding to the batter.
  • For extra flavor, you can add lemon zest to the batter or the cream cheese filling.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
