Description

These festive Christmas Pretzel Rods are a delightful holiday treat combining salty pretzel rods with smooth, colorful candy coatings and a variety of seasonal sprinkles. Perfect for gifting or adding a fun touch to your holiday dessert table, these easy-to-make snacks are both visually appealing and deliciously sweet and salty.

Ingredients

Base

  • Pretzel rods (about 12 rods)

Candy Coatings

  • Brown candy coating (milk chocolate morsels or chocolate almond bark) – 1 cup
  • White candy coating (white chocolate morsels or vanilla almond bark) – 1 cup
  • Green candy coating – 1 cup
  • Red candy coating – 1 cup

Sprinkles and Toppings

  • Assorted sprinkles:
    • Confetti Holly Mix
    • Mini M&M’s
    • Wilton Holiday Nonpareils
    • Wilton Christmas Snowflake Sprinkles
    • Crushed peppermint

Instructions

  1. Prepare the work area: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. This will be where you place the dipped pretzel rods to set.
  2. Melt candy coatings: In separate microwave-safe bowls, melt each type of candy coating (brown, white, green, and red) according to package instructions, usually heating in 30-second increments and stirring until smooth.
  3. Dip pretzel rods: Holding a pretzel rod by one end, dip it into the melted candy coating, swirling gently to coat about two-thirds of the rod. Lift and let excess coating drip off.
  4. Add sprinkles immediately: While the coating is still wet, sprinkle or roll the coated portion of the pretzel rod into your choice of sprinkles, such as Confetti Holly Mix, mini M&M’s, or crushed peppermint.
  5. Set the pretzel rods: Place the decorated pretzel rods on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat the dipping and decorating process with remaining pretzel rods and various candy coatings and sprinkles.
  6. Allow to harden: Let the pretzel rods sit at room temperature until the candy coating fully hardens, about 30 minutes. To speed up the process, you can place them in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Serve or store: Once set, the Christmas Pretzel Rods are ready to serve. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.

Notes

  • You can mix and match different candy coatings and sprinkles to create a variety of festive looks.
  • For a gluten-free version, be sure to use gluten-free pretzel rods.
  • If candy coatings become too thick, add a small amount of vegetable oil to thin them.
  • Use wax or parchment paper to prevent sticking while the pretzels set.
