Description

These Festive Bang Bang Chicken Sliders offer a perfect blend of crispy, spicy chicken paired with creamy mozzarella and tangy bang bang sauce, all nestled in soft slider rolls. Ideal for parties or casual gatherings, these sliders bring bold flavors and satisfying textures in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Coating

  • 1 1/2 pounds thin sliced chicken breasts
  • Kosher salt, fresh black pepper, and garlic powder for seasoning
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups (or more as needed) Panko bread crumbs
  • Vegetable or canola oil for frying

Assembly

  • 12 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 12 slider rolls
  • Bang Bang Sauce (prepared or store-bought as preferred)

Instructions

  1. Season the Chicken: Pat the thin sliced chicken breasts dry and season both sides evenly with kosher salt, fresh black pepper, and garlic powder to taste.
  2. Prepare the Wet Coating: In a bowl, whisk together buttermilk, hot sauce, and the egg to create the dipping mixture.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients: Combine the flour and cornstarch in a separate shallow dish. Place the panko bread crumbs in another shallow bowl for final dredging.
  4. Coat the Chicken: Dredge each chicken slice first in the flour-cornstarch mixture, then dip into the buttermilk-egg mixture, and finally coat thoroughly with panko bread crumbs. Ensure an even coating for crispiness.
  5. Heat the Oil: Pour vegetable or canola oil into a deep skillet or frying pan to a depth of about 1 inch. Heat the oil over medium-high heat to approximately 350°F (175°C), suitable for frying.
  6. Fry the Chicken: Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil without overcrowding. Fry each piece for about 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Add Cheese: While the chicken is still hot, place a slice of mozzarella cheese on each piece to melt slightly.
  8. Assemble Sliders: Spread bang bang sauce on the inside of each slider roll. Place the mozzarella-topped chicken on the bottom half and cover with the top half of the roll.
  9. Serve: Arrange the sliders on a platter and serve immediately while warm with extra bang bang sauce on the side if desired.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced chicken breasts for even frying and quick cooking.
  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce in the buttermilk mixture to control the spice level.
  • Maintain oil temperature to ensure crispy chicken without absorbing excess oil.
  • Slider rolls can be warmed in the oven before assembling for added softness.
  • Bang bang sauce can be homemade with mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and sriracha or purchased ready-made.
