Description

This Easy Shake and Bake Chicken is a crispy, flavorful dinner that’s quick to make and perfect for busy weeknights. With a golden coating and tender chicken inside, this simple dish will satisfy the whole family in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 46 chicken breasts, thighs, or drumsticks (bone-in, skin-on for best texture)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil or melted butter (for coating)

For the Coating:

  • 1 packet store-bought Shake and Bake mix, or:
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • Optional: extra seasonings (onion powder, cayenne pepper, herbs)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.

  2. Coat the Chicken:

    • Combine the Shake and Bake mix (or homemade coating ingredients) in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag.

    • Lightly coat each chicken piece with olive oil or melted butter.

    • Coat the chicken evenly in the mixture by shaking or pressing gently.

  3. Arrange on the Baking Sheet:

    • Place the coated chicken pieces on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each piece for even cooking.

  4. Bake the Chicken:

    • Bake for 25-30 minutes for boneless chicken breasts, or 35-45 minutes for bone-in pieces, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

    • The coating should be golden and crispy.

  5. Rest & Serve:

    • Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving to ensure it stays juicy.

Notes

  • Don’t Overcrowd the Pan: This helps the coating crisp up properly.
  • Use a Meat Thermometer: For accurate cooking and to avoid overcooking.
  • Customize the Coating: Add herbs or spices to suit your taste.
