Description

Meatloaf is the ultimate comfort food—juicy, flavorful, and incredibly easy to make. This classic recipe uses simple ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen and delivers a perfectly moist, tender meatloaf every time. Whether you’re making it for a weeknight dinner or a Sunday family meal, this dish is always a winner!

Ingredients

  • Ground Beef1 1/2 pounds (80/20 or 85/15)
  • Breadcrumbs3/4 cup (regular, panko, or crushed crackers)
  • Eggs2 large eggs
  • Milk1/2 cup
  • Onion1/2 cup finely chopped
  • Garlic2 cloves, minced
  • Ketchup1/4 cup (for the meat mixture) + 1/4 cup (for the glaze)
  • Worcestershire Sauce1 tablespoon (for the meat mixture) + 1 teaspoon (for the glaze)
  • Salt1 teaspoon
  • Black Pepper1/2 teaspoon
  • Brown Sugar1 tablespoon (for the glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Mix the Ingredients:
    In a large bowl, combine:

    • 1 ½ pounds ground beef

    • ¾ cup breadcrumbs

    • 2 eggs

    • ½ cup milk

    • ½ cup finely chopped onion

    • 2 cloves garlic, minced

    • ¼ cup ketchup

    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

    • 1 teaspoon salt

    • ½ teaspoon black pepper
Mix gently with your hands until just combined (don’t overmix, or the meatloaf will be tough).

  3. Shape the Meatloaf:

    • Transfer the mixture to the loaf pan or shape it into a freeform loaf on a baking sheet.

    • Smooth the top for even cooking.

  4. Make the Glaze:
    In a small bowl, mix:

    • ¼ cup ketchup

    • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

  5. Bake the Meatloaf:

    • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

    • Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • Don’t Overmix – Mix just until combined to keep the meatloaf tender.
  • Use a Meat Thermometer – Ensures perfect doneness without drying out.
  • Let It Rest – This allows juices to redistribute, keeping the meatloaf moist.
