- 5 organic black tea bags paper tags removed
- 1 1/2 cups fresh blackberries
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar or sugar substitute
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- Extra blackberries and basil sprigs for garnish
Instructions
- Boil Water: In a large saucepan, bring 8 cups of water to a boil.
- Add Tea Bags: Remove the paper tags from the black tea bags and add them to the boiling water. Let steep for 5 minutes.
- Make Blackberry Syrup: In a separate saucepan, combine blackberries, sugar, and 1/2 cup of water. Cook over medium heat until the blackberries break down and the sugar dissolves, about 10 minutes. Strain the mixture to remove seeds.
- Combine Tea and Syrup: Pour the blackberry syrup into the brewed tea. Add fresh lemon juice and stir well. Let cool.
- Serve: Pour the blackberry iced tea over ice and garnish with extra blackberries and basil sprigs.
Notes
- You can adjust the sweetness of the tea by adding more or less sugar to the blackberry syrup.
- For a stronger blackberry flavor, muddle some extra blackberries before adding them to the syrup.
