Description

Cherry Earl Grey Milk Tea is a delightful twist on the classic Earl Grey, blending the bold, citrusy flavors of Earl Grey tea with the sweet, tart taste of cherries and creamy milk. Whether you prefer it hot for cozy days or iced for a refreshing treat, this drink is perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Tea:

  • 2 Earl Grey tea bags
  • 1 cup hot water (for hot tea) or 1 cup cold water (for iced tea)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cherries, pitted and chopped (or use cherry syrup for convenience)
  • 12 tbsp honey or sugar, to taste
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy like almond or oat milk)
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tea:
  2. For hot tea, steep the Earl Grey tea bags in hot water for 3-5 minutes. For iced tea, steep the tea bags in cold water and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  3. Prepare the Cherry Syrup:
  4. In a small saucepan, combine the chopped cherries and honey (or sugar). Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes, until the cherries break down and form a syrup. If you’re using cherry syrup instead of fresh cherries, skip this step.
  5. Combine Tea and Cherry Syrup:
  6. For hot tea, remove the tea bags from the hot water and stir in the cherry syrup (or fresh cherries with their juice). Stir well to combine.
  7. For iced tea, once the tea has cooled, pour it into a glass filled with ice and mix in the cherry syrup.
  8. Add Milk and Flavor:
  9. Stir in the milk and a drop of vanilla extract (if using). For a creamier texture, use full-fat milk or a thicker non-dairy milk like oat milk.
  10. Serve:
  11. For hot tea, pour the mixture into a mug and serve immediately.
  12. For iced tea, serve the cherry Earl Grey milk tea over ice and garnish with a few whole cherries or a sprig of mint if desired.

Notes

  • If you prefer a stronger cherry flavor, add more cherry syrup or fresh cherries.
  • For a vegan version, use your favorite plant-based milk, and make sure the sweetener is vegan-friendly.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your taste, adding more honey or sugar if needed.
