Ingredients
– 1 boneless turkey breast (about 4 to 5 pounds) or 1 bone-in turkey breast (about 6 pounds)
– 1 tablespoon kosher salt
– 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 medium lemon
– 2 carrots, scrubbed and cut into 2-inch pieces
– 2 celery stalks, cut into 2-inch pieces
– 1 red apple, cut into 8 wedges (no need to peel or core)
– 8 sprigs fresh thyme
– 1 cup dry white wine or chicken broth
– 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
1. Season the turkey breast with salt, pepper, and minced garlic.
2. Place the carrots, celery, apple, and thyme in the bottom of the crockpot.
3. Add the seasoned turkey breast on top of the vegetables.
4. Squeeze the lemon over the turkey and place the lemon halves in the crockpot.
5. Pour wine or chicken broth over the turkey.
6. Drizzle melted butter over the turkey.
7. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or until the turkey reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
8. Serve the turkey sliced with the vegetables and juices from the crockpot.
Notes
– For a twist, you can add other herbs like rosemary or sage for more flavor.
– To make a gravy, strain the juices from the crockpot and thicken with a cornstarch slurry on the stovetop.
