Ingredients
– 1 1/2 cups Homemade BBQ Sauce or your favorite store-bought sauce
– 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
– 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water to make a slurry
– Serving suggestions: whole wheat or pretzel buns, cheddar cheese, chopped green onion, baked sweet potatoes
Instructions
1. Place chicken breasts in the crockpot and pour BBQ sauce over them.
2. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until chicken is tender.
3. Remove chicken from the crockpot and shred using two forks.
4. Return shredded chicken to the crockpot and stir in the cornstarch slurry.
5. Cook on high for an additional 30 minutes until sauce thickens.
6. Serve on buns or tortillas with desired toppings.
Notes
– For a smokier flavor, add a dash of liquid smoke to the sauce.
