Description

These fun and colorful Cookie Monster Cookies are inspired by the famous Sesame Street character. Packed with chocolate chips and vibrant blue food coloring, these cookies are both a treat for the eyes and the taste buds. Perfect for a fun baking project with kids or a themed party!

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 1/2 cup blue chocolate melts (or blue candy melts)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows (for eyes)
  • 1/4 cup black candy or chocolate chips (for eyes

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and almond extract (if using).
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the blue chocolate melts and semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  7. Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  9. While the cookies are baking, melt the mini marshmallows and black candy chips to create the “eyes” of Cookie Monster.
  10. Once the cookies are out of the oven and slightly cooled, press two marshmallows onto each cookie to form the eyes. Add a black candy chip or small chocolate chip in the center of each marshmallow to create the pupils.
  11. Let the cookies cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

  • If you prefer to avoid food coloring, you can make these cookies without the blue chocolate melts.
  • For a more authentic Cookie Monster look, try adding a few more marshmallows for a more “googly-eyed” effect.
  • These cookies store well in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
