- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
For the Peanut Butter Topping:
- 8 ounces (227g) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup (125g) creamy peanut butter
- 2 cups (250g) powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
Instructions
-
Prepare the Base:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the chocolate cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg until well combined.
- Press the mixture evenly into the prepared pan.
-
Make the Peanut Butter Topping:
- In another bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, peanut butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and the remaining 2 eggs until smooth and creamy.
-
Spread and Bake:
- Pour the peanut butter mixture over the chocolate cake base and spread evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still slightly gooey.
-
Cool and Serve:
- Let the bars cool completely before slicing. Enjoy warm for a gooey texture or chilled for a firmer bite.
Notes
- For a more decadent touch, sprinkle chopped peanut butter cups or drizzle melted chocolate on top.
- If you prefer an even gooier texture, reduce the baking time slightly.
- Store these in the fridge because of the cream cheese content.
