Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugars: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, until well combined.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Add oats and chocolate chips: Stir in the oats and chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Bake the bars: Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool and cut: Allow the bars to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • You can use different types of chocolate chips, such as milk chocolate or white chocolate, depending on your preference.
  • These bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
  • For an extra touch, add a handful of chopped nuts, like walnuts or pecans, to the dough.
