Cookies:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons maraschino cherry juice
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 6 drops red food coloring, optional
- 2–1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries

- 30 milk chocolate kisses, unwrapped
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugar: In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add flavorings: Mix in salt, cherry juice, almond extract, and food coloring (if using).
- Combine dry ingredients: Gradually add flour to the mixture until well combined. Fold in chopped cherries.
- Form cookies: Shape dough into balls and place on prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Add chocolate kisses: As soon as cookies come out of the oven, gently press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie. Allow to cool before serving.
Notes
- You can customize the cookies by using different colored food coloring or adding chopped nuts.
