Ingredients
– 2 pounds lean ground beef
– 2 teaspoons garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon kosher salt
– 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 1/2 white onion, diced
– 12 slider-sized Hawaiian rolls (1 package)
– 12 (3/4-ounce) cheese snack bars, any flavor (e.g., Borden)
For the Glaze (Optional):
– 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (1/2 stick)
– 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
– 2 tablespoons brown sugar
– 3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
– 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
– 1/2 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
-
Add ground beef to the skillet. Season with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook until fully browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
-
Slice Hawaiian rolls horizontally without separating them. Place the bottom halves in a greased baking dish.
-
Evenly spread the cooked beef mixture over the rolls, then top each with a cheese snack bar.
-
Add the top halves of the rolls.
-
In a small bowl, mix the glaze ingredients: melted butter, salt, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Brush evenly over the tops of the rolls. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
-
Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove foil and bake uncovered for another 5–10 minutes, or until tops are golden and cheese is melted.
-
Let cool slightly before slicing into individual sliders and serving.
Notes
– To add extra flavor, try using different types of cheese snack bars.
– For a spicy twist, mix in some hot sauce to the glaze.
