Description

A stunning layered cocktail that captures the vibrant colors of a Caribbean sunset in a glass. This tropical drink combines rum with fruit juices to create a gradient effect from deep red to orange to yellow, reminiscent of a beautiful island sunset.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 oz white rum
  • 1 oz coconut rum
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz orange juice
  • 1/2 oz grenadine
  • 1/2 oz passion fruit syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • Orange slice and maraschino cherry (for garnish)
  • Optional: coconut cream float

Instructions

  1. Fill a tall hurricane glass with ice cubes.
  2. Pour the pineapple juice and white rum into the glass.
  3. Slowly add the orange juice and coconut rum by pouring over the back of a spoon to create a layer.
  4. Very slowly pour the grenadine down the inside of the glass, allowing it to sink to the bottom.
  5. Add a small splash of passion fruit syrup to enhance the sunset effect.
  6. Optional: Float a small amount of coconut cream on top for a “cloud” effect.
  7. Garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry.

Notes

  • For the best layered effect, pour ingredients very slowly and in the correct order
  • Chill all ingredients beforehand for best results
  • For a non-alcoholic version, replace both rums with additional fruit juices and add a splash of coconut water
  • The passion fruit syrup can be replaced with mango nectar
  • Use a clear glass to showcase the beautiful gradient effect
