Units Scale

Balsamic Reduction:

    • 1 cup balsamic vinegar
    • 1/4 cup honey

Salad:

  • 3 large tomatoes, cut into 1/2-inch slices
  • 1 (16 ounce) package fresh mozzarella cheese, cut into 1/4-inch slices
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

Instructions

  1. Make the balsamic reduction: In a small saucepan, combine balsamic vinegar and honey. Simmer over low heat until thickened, about 10-15 minutes. Let cool.
  2. Assemble the salad: On a serving platter, alternate slices of tomatoes and mozzarella. Season with salt and pepper. Top with fresh basil leaves.
  3. Drizzle with balsamic reduction: Drizzle the salad with the balsamic reduction and olive oil.

Notes

  • For a variation, you can add sliced avocado or prosciutto to the salad.
  • Make sure to use ripe, flavorful tomatoes for the best results.
