Ingredients
Scale
Crust
- 1 prepared 9-inch chocolate pie crust (6 ounces store-bought or homemade, such as an Oreo pie crust)
Filling
- 6 ounces block-style cream cheese, room temperature
- 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 25 ounces frozen whipped topping, thawed and divided (such as Cool Whip)
- 4.65 ounces Hershey’s milk chocolate bars, broken into pieces plus additional bar for optional garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the crust: If you are using a store-bought crust, ensure it is thawed if frozen. If homemade, prepare and bake your chocolate pie crust ahead of time and let it cool completely before filling.
- Mix the cream cheese filling: In a large mixing bowl, beat the room temperature cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Add the sifted powdered sugar and vanilla extract, then continue beating until fully combined and smooth.
- Incorporate whipped topping: Gently fold in about two-thirds of the thawed whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture until well combined and fluffy.
- Assemble the pie: Spoon half of the cream cheese and whipped topping mixture into the prepared chocolate crust, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle half of the broken Hershey’s milk chocolate pieces over this layer.
- Add remaining layers: Spoon the remaining cream cheese and whipped topping mixture over the first layer, spreading evenly. Top with the remaining Hershey’s milk chocolate pieces.
- Finish with whipped topping and garnish: Spread the reserved whipped topping over the top layer for a smooth finish. Optionally, garnish with additional Hershey’s milk chocolate pieces or shavings.
- Chill the pie: Refrigerate the assembled pie for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to set properly and allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve: Slice and serve chilled for a rich and creamy chocolate dessert experience.
Notes
- Use room temperature cream cheese for a smooth, lump-free filling.
- Gently fold in whipped topping to maintain its light, airy texture.
- The pie must be chilled for several hours to firm up before serving.
- For an extra chocolate kick, garnish with shaved chocolate or drizzle melted chocolate on top.
- This dessert is best served cold and eaten within 2-3 days of preparation.
