  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 cup instant potato flakes
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard or to taste
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

For the dough:

  • 1/2 cup instant potato flakes, divided
  • 7 tablespoons butter, melted and divided
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for flouring
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup milk, plus extra for brushing
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: In a bowl, mix together ground beef, onion, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, potato flakes, egg, ketchup, pickle relish, mustard, and cheddar cheese.
  2. Make the dough: In another bowl, combine potato flakes, melted butter, flour, sugar, cream of tartar, baking soda, milk, lemon juice, and mayonnaise to form a dough.
  3. Assemble the burgers: Divide the dough into portions, flatten each portion, place a scoop of the filling in the center, and seal the edges to form burgers.
  4. Cook the burgers: Cook the burgers in a skillet until golden brown on both sides.
  5. Serve: Serve the burgers hot with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • You can customize the filling with your favorite ingredients like different cheeses, vegetables, or spices.
  • For a quicker version, you can use store-bought burger buns instead of making the dough from scratch.
