Units Scale

Brownie Layer:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

Cheesecake Layer:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup blackberry puree (strained to remove seeds)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Make brownie batter: In a saucepan, melt butter and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Add cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Spread batter in the prepared pan.
  3. Prepare cheesecake mixture: Beat cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth. Gently swirl in blackberry puree.
  4. Bake: Spoon cheesecake mixture over brownie batter. Use a knife to create swirls. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until set.
  5. Cool and garnish: Let cool in the pan, then refrigerate before slicing into squares. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • You can use any berry puree or fruit compote for a different flavor variation.
  • For a cleaner cut, chill the brownies in the refrigerator before slicing.
