Description

Beef Tips with Gravy is a classic comfort food—tender, juicy beef simmered in a rich, flavorful gravy. Perfect over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles, this dish is easy to make and ready in about 30 minutes, making it a great choice for a cozy meal any day of the week.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 lbs beef tips (sirloin or stew meat)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 small yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth (low-sodium recommended)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1.  Sear the Beef

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef tips in batches, browning on all sides (4-5 minutes). Remove from pan and set aside.

  1. 2. Cook the Onions and Garlic

In the same skillet, add chopped onion and cook until soft (about 5 minutes). Stir in garlic and cook for 1 more minute until fragrant.

  1. 3. Make the Gravy

Sprinkle flour over the onions and stir to form a paste. Cook for 1-2 minutes, then slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Simmer until the gravy starts to thicken.

  1. 4. Simmer the Beef

Return the seared beef to the pan, along with any juices. Stir to coat in the gravy. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until beef is tender.

  1. 5. Season and Serve

Stir in Worcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.

Notes

  • For gluten-free, substitute flour with cornstarch.
  • Add a splash of red wine or balsamic vinegar for extra depth.
  • Let beef simmer low and slow for the most tender results.
