  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp water (for slurry)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Apples

  1. Peel, core, and dice apples into small pieces.
  2. Toss them with lemon juice to prevent browning.

Step 2: Cook the Apples

  1. Melt butter in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg, stirring until combined.
  3. Stir in apples and cook for 10-12 minutes, until tender and caramelized.

Step 3: Thicken the Dip

  1. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with 1 tbsp of water to form a slurry.
  2. Stir the slurry into the apples and cook for 2-3 more minutes until thickened.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

Notes

  • Use a mix of apples (tart and sweet) for a well-balanced flavor.
  • Adjust thickness by adding more or less cornstarch slurry.
  • For extra flavor, add a splash of apple cider or a pinch of allspice.
