- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp water (for slurry)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Apples
- Peel, core, and dice apples into small pieces.
- Toss them with lemon juice to prevent browning.
Step 2: Cook the Apples
- Melt butter in a pan over medium heat.
- Add brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg, stirring until combined.
- Stir in apples and cook for 10-12 minutes, until tender and caramelized.
Step 3: Thicken the Dip
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with 1 tbsp of water to form a slurry.
- Stir the slurry into the apples and cook for 2-3 more minutes until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
Notes
- Use a mix of apples (tart and sweet) for a well-balanced flavor.
- Adjust thickness by adding more or less cornstarch slurry.
- For extra flavor, add a splash of apple cider or a pinch of allspice.
