- 3 cups milk, divided
Instructions
- Mix Yeast with Water: Dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for a few minutes until foamy.
- Add Flour and Sugar: Stir in 1 cup of flour and 1 cup of sugar until well combined.
- Feed the Starter: Add 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of flour, and 1 cup of sugar to the mixture, stir well, cover, and let sit at room temperature.
- Repeat: Feed the starter with 1 cup each of milk, flour, and sugar for the next 4-9 days, stirring daily.
Notes
- This starter can be used to make delicious Amish Friendship Bread loaves or shared with friends to start their own batches.
- Store the starter in a glass or plastic container and do not use metal utensils when mixing.
