Description

Ambrosia, also known as “Mom’s Marshmallow Salad,” is a creamy, fruity classic that’s perfect for holidays and family gatherings. With marshmallows, fruit, and coconut mixed into a light, fluffy whipped topping, this nostalgic dish is always a crowd favorite.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 can (15 oz) fruit cocktail, drained
  • 1 can (20 oz) pineapple chunks, drained
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup sweetened coconut flakes
  • 1 1/2 cups whipped topping (Cool Whip or similar)

Instructions

Step 1: Drain the Fruit
Thoroughly drain the fruit cocktail and pineapple chunks to prevent excess liquid.

Step 2: Combine Ingredients
In a large bowl, mix the drained fruit, mini marshmallows, and coconut flakes.

Step 3: Fold in Whipped Topping
Gently fold in the whipped topping until everything is evenly coated.

Step 4: Chill & Serve
Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight) for the best flavor. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Notes

  • Make-ahead tip: Ambrosia tastes best when chilled overnight to let the flavors meld.
  • Fruit swaps: Try using fresh pineapple, mandarin oranges, or grapes for a fresh twist.
  • Dairy-free version: Use dairy-free whipped topping and vegan marshmallows.
