Scale
For the Chicken:
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooking spray (for air frying)
For the Bang Bang Sauce:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 3 tbsp sriracha sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional for extra flavor)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken:
- In one bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- In a second bowl, beat the egg.
- In a third bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs.
- Coat each piece of chicken first in the flour mixture, then dip in the beaten egg, and finally coat with the panko breadcrumbs. Set the breaded chicken aside.
- Cook the Chicken in the Air Fryer:
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange the breaded chicken pieces in a single layer in the basket (you may need to cook in batches).
- Air fry for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the chicken is golden and crispy.
- Make the Bang Bang Sauce:
- While the chicken is cooking, whisk together the mayonnaise, sriracha sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic powder, and sesame oil (if using) in a bowl until smooth.
- Toss the Chicken in the Sauce:
- Once the chicken is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl. Pour the Bang Bang sauce over the chicken and toss gently to coat each piece.
- Serve:
- Serve the Air Fryer Bang Bang Chicken immediately, garnished with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired. It pairs wonderfully with rice or a side of veggies
Notes
- For a less spicy version, reduce the amount of sriracha in the sauce and add more honey.
- If you don’t have panko breadcrumbs, regular breadcrumbs can also work, but panko gives a crispier texture.
- You can use chicken tenders instead of cutting chicken breasts into pieces for easier preparation.
